Did You Know Barricades Tell Drivers More than No Entry?

Did you know that the diagonal lines on barricades provide instruction to drivers?

Depending on which way the line leans toward at the bottom tells drivers which way to move over to in a work zone.

Where does this barricade tell drivers to move, right or left?

The barricade featured indicates the driver should move right. Stripes sloping downward to the right mean you must bear to the right and stripes sloping downward to the left mean bear to the left.

As we approach construction season, please remember to slow down and to observe work zone signage for your safety, the safety of our employees and others working in roadway work zones.

Never drive around a barricade. Temporary, mobile and permanent traffic control devices are placed for your safety, the safety of others and our workers.

Depending on the reason for the barricade, moving or driving around barricades can endanger the lives and livelihood of those the barricades are there to protect, put you in harm’s way, and may cause damage to uncured concrete and your car.
