The survey is designed to measure the community’s level of satisfaction with quality of life issues and the quality of city services. The results are used to assist leaders in the budget process. The biennial survey has been sent out since 2006. The last survey was administered in 2018.

“We realize the survey takes time to complete, but every question is important and we will listen to you!” Mayor Matson says in a letter mailed with the survey. “The time you invest in the survey will influence many of the decisions that will be made about the City’s future. Your responses will also allow City leadership and staff to identify and address many of the opportunities and challenges facing the community.”

The survey will be mailed to 5,000 randomly selected Davenport residents beginning Sept. 4. The confidential survey takes an estimated 15 minutes to complete and residents are asked to mail it back to the ETC Institute of Olathe, Kansas, the company that has been retained to administer the survey for Davenport. Recipients can also follow the instructions located in the packet and complete the survey online. For those who are mailing responses, respondents will be provided a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Some residents may receive a telephone call reminding them to complete the survey. All results remain completely confidential and the City of Davenport will not be informed which residents received or completed surveys.
The survey will be opened up to all residents starting in mid-October for a limited time period.

Survey questions deal with the level of satisfaction residents have with police, fire, parks, public works, communication, and more. ETC Institute will compile and deliver the results to City leaders and staff. Results from the survey are anticipated to be publically available in the month of December. Additionally, the results will be shared at public forums during the upcoming budget cycle.
