Fejervary Learning Center
Located at the former zoo facility at Fejervary Park, the Fejervary Learning Center has an early childhood theme and provides a focus on environmental education for children through nature play. On display at the Learning center is a show area of the 50 state trees, a children's garden and natural playground.

The Learning Center is also the home for several nature programs. Come experience Fejervary Learning Center's free toddling nature program and bring your 18-24 month old child to experience hands-on nature explorations.

Juan Diaz Rancheros, which provides emotional therapy for children through interaction with horses is located in the lower half of the center.

This program is not open to the public.
My Little Wheelbarrow
My Little Wheelbarrow is an interactive, hands-on gardening program sponsored by the Friends of Vander Veer for children ages 2-5 at Vander Veer Botanical Park. Children will learn the many wonders of gardening including how seeds grow, how to water and plant a garden, and all the exciting flavors and smells in between!  Drop-in and join the fun, this program is free and no registration is required!
Nature and Garden Programs
Guided Nature Hikes: Take a naturalist-guided hike in some of Davenport Park areas. The hikes range from “Walk with the Eagles” in the winter to “Full Moon Hike” in the spring and summer. Learn about some of our unique natural areas while having fun!

Vander Veer Conservatory Themed Plant Shows: Enter our conservatory at Vander Veer Botanical Park and learn about different plants through hands-on activities and scavenger hunts. There is a theme for all the seasons. Adults are $1 and children 16 and under are free.

Kindernature: A nature program for young children ages 3 to 5 which enriches awareness and appreciation for nature. Each class focuses on an environmental theme includes a story, hands-on activity, craft and themed snack. Classes occur June through Mid- August. A small class fee per child is charged. An adult must accompany the child. Registration is required and class size is limited to 20 children. Each class begins at 10am in or around the Vander Veer Conservatory located in Vander Veer Botanical Park.
School Classroom Visits and Park Field Trips
The Davenport Parks and Recreation staff will present many topics of nature and the environment based on curriculum goals and bench marks in many school districts. There is a nominal fee for the class presentations and field trips. To schedule please contact the Environmental Education Supervisor at 563-888-3084.
