Combination of Davenport Police patch and badgeIn announcing a future community summit to examine juvenile crime Monday, Mayor Frank Klipsch told people to lock their vehicles to prevent them from being stolen.
Police Chief Paul Sikorski noted that police arrested seven juveniles related to car thefts over the weekend.

“If you are leaving your keys in your unlocked car, you are part of the problem,” Klipsch said.

Sikorski also asked for people to be responsible with firearms, saying 73 firearms have been stolen from residences and vehicles so far this year. He also noted that his officers have arrested 79 on weapons charges.

“We are working very diligently on this issue but we need to look at the root problems,” the police chief said.
