Sterilite

Description/Goal

Complete all necessary approvals and manage all infrastructure projects related to a successful opening of the new Sterilite development.

Current Update

Construction on the 4th spur and interchange tracks began in May 2019 following approval from the Economic Development Administration. Construction will last through the summer and conclude in early fall. This project will allow for a dedicated rail spur to serve Sterilite Corporation and allow for better flow of two way rail transit with the addition of two interchange tracks along the northern stretch of the short line.

Previous Status

The reconstruction of Division Street along the eastern boundary of Sterilite is complete as is the intersection of Division and Slopertown Road. The intersection improvements are complete at the entrance of the Eastern Iowa Industrial Center and at NW Blvd and Slopertown Road. This intersection now contains two left turn lanes out of the park and specific turn lanes for the Love's Truck Stop and the Natural Resources Conservation Service building. The final intersection improvements at Hillandale Road and Slopertown Road will occur in 2019 as will the reconstruction of the mile stretch of Slopertown Road east of Sterilite. This project cost is shared between the City of Eldridge and Davenport with State of Iowa RISE assistance. Langman Construction was selected as the bidder for the construction of the 4th rail spur and two interchange rail tracks. A preconstruction meeting was held in April and construction is slated to begin on May 20, 2019 with a 106 work day calendar.
