Davenport Parks and Recreation logoCredit Island Park looks will get a big boost through capital improvement funding in the next fiscal year under Parks and Recreation staff recommendations for a new playground and new entrance enhancements and lighting.

The recommendations are among seven made recently to City Council by Parks and Recreation Director Scott Hock for $250,000 available.

The recommendations include $85,000 to replace the playground equipment on Credit Island that was installed in 1998, as well as improved lighting and landscaping at the park’s entrance, estimated at $25,000.

The other recommendations are:

• Replacing windows on the north side of Davenport Junior Theatre and adding lighting. The $35,000 cost would be shared between the City and Junior Theatre Inc., with the City providing $20,000.

• ADA compatible countertops and automatic door openers for restrooms at River’s Edge, estimated at $20,000.

• Enhanced tee stations at Duck Creek and Emeis golf courses at high traffic and high impact turnaround locations to improve aesthetics and possibly help boost revenue, estimated at $25,000.

• Playground equipment for Peterson Park that replaces equipment installed in 2006, $65,000.
Holiday lighting for Vander Veer Botanical Center, $10,000.
