Better Roads Davenport

Find the full list of construction planned for 2026 at this link.

Change is happening. Bear with us!
Street and sewer improvements can lead to inevitable slowdowns and traffic reroutes. We ask that you keep your eye on the prize: a city with enhanced livability that can support existing business infrastructure as well as attract new companies. It’s a short-term hassle with long-term payoffs.

As always, safety is our number one priority. Staying calm and following construction zone signage will help us achieve that.

As we work to modernize the sewer and street infrastructure to support growth and a vibrant future for our community, remember: there are better roads ahead, Davenport!

Current Traffic Updates

This Just In

  • Road reconstruction on Rockingham Road between Farragut Street and Elmwood Avenue will begin on April 6. This project is one of two reconstruction efforts scheduled along Rockingham Road this year in support of a permanent flood detour for river levels that affect W. River Drive.  The reconstruction will require closure of Rockingham Road between Farragut Street and Elmwood Avenue. Please follow the posted detour or use an alternate route. Work is expected to be completed by early to mid-July, pending weather and subsurface conditions. Travel note: The closure of Rockingham Road between Clark Street and Farragut Street is estimated to reopen on April 8. That closure was in place for emergency water main repairs. Use this link for more details and to view the detour route.
  • Changes to the 4th Street and Fillmore Intersection Detour: To help support travel on 4th Street, we have opened one lane of travel for passenger vehicles only through the intersection. This may be temporary, pending adjacent work. IMPORTANT NOTE: Semis and other large vehicles and equipment need to use the detour at Marquette Street to River Drive to Division Street. Use this link to view the updated detour route.
  • A new project on Pine Street, between 49th and 53rd Streets, will start on April 6. Travel will initially be reduced to one northbound lane and will later switch to one southbound lane as construction progresses. The reconstruction and ADA sidewalk ramp improvements should be finished by early to mid-July. Use this link to view the detour route.
  • Locust Street will be closed between Brady Street and Pershing Avenue for a private lead water service line replacement beginning Tuesday, April 7, through April 27.
  • Iowa American has various water main, hydrant work, and temporary winter patch replacements happening across the city including E 50th Ct, and 3800 block of Wilkes Ave.
Neighborhood Streets
