Bix runners on Brady Street

July 23, 2020 (Davenport, Iowa) —With the 2020 Quad City Times BIX 7 Road Race being held virtually, the Davenport Police Department would like to remind our community that roadways will not be closed on Saturday, July 25, 2020, for those participating in the virtual race.

Runners should not impede traffic. Please follow all state and local laws. In an effort to protect pedestrians and the motoring public, we ask that anyone wishing to run on their own to please be aware of your surroundings, stay on sidewalks, use crosswalks, and look both ways prior to crossing streets.

Law enforcement stresses safety and reminds everyone that there will not be any road closures, course security, or EMS agencies standing by.

VIRTUAL RUN SAFETY TIPS:

▪️These are not closed courses. Please be aware of your surroundings and use crosswalks and look both ways prior to crossing streets.

▪️Plan for your run. Check the weather and stay hydrated. Water fountains or sources may not be available along your route so please be prepared.

▪️ Carry your ID in case of an emergency.

▪️ Notify someone of your planned route, when your start and when you finish your run.

▪️Wear bright or reflective clothing to make you more visible.

▪️Follow recommendations as provided by the Scott County Health Department and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

▪️ Please use common sense and don’t overdo it. Call 9-1-1 in the event of an emergency.
