Start off Spring with No Sticker Yard Wastes Weeks & Compost

Davenport has great news for residents just itching to get out there this growing season. It all starts with preparing the lawn and garden for success with a little landscape preparation like weeding and improving your soil.

Here are a few important dates as we head into spring:

  • Curbside Yard Waste Collection resumes on Monday, April 5 2021
  •  No Sticker Yard Waste Weeks are Monday, April 5 through Friday, April 16, 2021
  • The Davenport Compost Facility returns to Summer Hours on Thursday, April 1, 2021

To kick things off, the Davenport Compost Facility will resume summer hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, beginning on Thursday, April 1, 2021. Serving as a yard waste drop off and green waste recycling center for Scott County, IA residents, and businesses, the facility is a one-stop-shop.  Drop off yard wastes, and while you are there, pick up some of our locally produced soil amendment and lawn products.

The Davenport Compost Facility team has produced high-quality, 100% natural compost, garden soil, potting soil, mulch, and other lawn improvement products for over 25 years.  Using these organic, nutrient-rich products can improve any lawn or garden by first improving the soil.  Welcoming news for the Quad City region is that our products are available for purchase regionally and nationally, meaning you don’t have to be a resident of Scott County to purchase and use our locally produced products.

When you buy compost and other soil amendment products from the Davenport Compost Facility, know that the products we produce by recycling herbaceous, woody, and biosolid wastes, undergo rigorous monitoring and testing to ensure the highest quality, nutrient-rich and natural products are produced.

Knowing the City of Davenport has got your back when it comes to soil, lawn, and garden improvement is one thing, but what do you do with all of the material you need to remove as part of spring preparation?  That’s where solid waste steps in with the return of curbside yard waste collection on Monday, April 5, 2021. Not only does curbside collection return, but we are offering No Sticker Yard Waste Weeks during the first two weeks, Monday, April 5 through Friday, April 16, to help residents with extra yard wastes as the growing season begins.

During No Sticker Yard Waste Weeks, residents with solid waste collection may place yard wastes in a Kraft-ply bag without a sticker, in a yard waste cart (if you have the service) without a fee, or drop-off at the Davenport Compost Facility without a fee. Just remember, bundled brush is always collected without a fee. However, the brush must be bundled in lengths no longer than 5 feet and weighing no more than 50 lbs. for collection. And, always use recyclable/decomposable material such as twine when bundling.
