The officers graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in December 2019. They begin field training this week.

Officer Maurer grew up in Mason, Mich., graduating from high school in 2006. He graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management in 2010. In 2017, he completed his Master’s degree in Business Administration. He commissioned into the United States Army in May 2010 as a 2nd lieutenant and has served nearly 10 years, achieving the rank of major.

Officer Hoenig was born in Ames but grew up traveling to different duty stations with his Army family. Eventually landing in the Quad Cities, he graduated from Pleasant Valley High School, then graduated from Western Illinois University in 2014 with his Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science. Hoenig worked as a strength and conditioning coach at a variety of levels and managed a kickboxing gym before joining DPD. Hoenig enjoys staying active playing sports and spending time with his family.

Officer Anderson grew up in Bettendorf and graduated from Bettendorf High School in 2009. She earned a Bachelor's degree in English at Western Illinois University. Anderson previously worked as a paramedic at Medic EMS in Davenport.

Officer Bateman was born and raised in Davenport, graduating from Davenport Central High School in 2009. Upon graduating high school, he went to Des Moines Area Community College to play basketball and then on to Stephen F. Austin State University, where he finished his basketball career and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology. Since graduating, Hal has served as an assistant varsity basketball coach at Davenport Central High School.

Officer Mathews grew up in Gary, Ind., attending Thea Bowman Leadership Academy where he graduated in 2014. He then attended St. Ambrose University where he studied Criminal Justice and graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He continued his studies at St. Ambrose, earning a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice in 2019. After graduation, Dwight was eventually able to land his dream job with the Davenport Police Department.
