DFD welcomes 3 new firefighters

Newly sworn in firefighters William Schorg, Jim Swanson and Matt Kindelsperger  with Chief Mike Carlsten, Fire Marshal Jim Morris, Assistant Chief Jim Bickford and Training Chief Robb MacdougallMayor Frank Klipsch swore in William Schorg, Jim Swanson and Matt Kindelsperger as Davenport firefighters at Wednesday’s City Council meeting.

Let’s meet the firefighters:

Matt Kindelsperger grew up in Parkview and graduated from North Scott High School in 2008. After high school, he continued his education at Scott Community College where he earned an Associate’s Degree, and Western Illinois University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. Matt is currently working on testing for his Fire I and Fire II certifications, and is working on getting his EMT-B license reinstated. He enjoys weightlifting and outdoor activities such as playing Dek Hockey, flag football, hiking, running and spending time with his family.

William Schorg was born and raised in the Quad-Cities, graduating from Bettendorf High School. He enlisted in the US Air Force as an aerospace mechanic and was a part of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom while stationed overseas in Turkey and Germany. He was on the 2005 All Air Force soccer team and is active in the Quad-Cities soccer community. Will has his Firefighter I and II certifications and is a nationally registered paramedic.

Jim Swanson was born and raised in Davenport, graduating from West High School. After graduation, he attended the University of Iowa where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, playing guitar and spending time with his family.
