Congratulations to Davenport Fire Department’s newest firefighters. Mayor Frank Klipsch swore in the trio at Wednesday’s City Council meeting.

Let’s meet the firefighters:

Nathan King was born and raised in Wyoming, Ill. He graduated from Stark County High School in 2012. After high school he attended Western Illinois University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science in 2016. After college, Nathan joined the Illinois Air National Guard where he is still an active member today. Nathan has Firefighter I and II certifications and is planning on going to paramedic school in the near future. In his free time he enjoys spending time in the outdoors with his family and friends.

Ben Andersen grew up in Independence, Iowa and graduated from high school in 2011. After high school, he obtained his EMT and began working for an area ambulance service. Ben volunteered for the Independence and Winthrop fire departments. During this time he obtained his firefighter I and II, Driver Operator and fire Instructor One certifications. He obtained his Paramedic certification in 2015 and began to teach EMS class soon afterwards.
Prior to joining the Davenport Fire Department, Ben spent 16 months in the Middle East working as a Paramedic. Recently, he married his wife Maggie, this last September.

Jordan Miller grew up in Kalona, Iowa. He went to the Iowa Mennonite School, in Kalona; where he participated in FFA and golf. After graduation he attended Kirkwood Community College to pursue an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science. Jordan achieved his Firefighter 1 & 2 and EMT certifications. In his free time he enjoys spending time outdoors hunting and mountain biking. And, spending time with his friends and family.
