Welcome to downtown Davenport sign

Livability.com named Davenport the third most diversified economy in the United States, making it poised to rebound quickly when the COVID-19 pandemic ends. The website published the list, created by a labor market analytics firm, in late July.

In the article, Davenport trails only Madison, Wisconsin and Burlington, Vermont. Davenport made the list because of its mix of major corporations and small businesses as well as its average home price of less than $150,000.

The City’s loan program and tax incentive programs were also highlighted in the article as ways to grow and attract new businesses. The Iowa Economic Development Authority also offers tax incentives.

Livability explores what makes small-to-medium sized cities great places to live. The website examines topics related to community amenities, education, sustainability, transportation, housing and the economy and develops city rankings for a range of topics including small towns, college towns and its annual Top 100 Best Places to Live.
