Public Works is the backbone of a community. We work daily to provide services that are fundamental to the quality of life you enjoy in the City of Davenport. Our staff is responsible for services and compliance programs that protect and enhance our natural and built environment. We also work to maintain and improve the infrastructure. In December of 2007, Davenport Public Works became the 45th agency accredited by the American Public Works Association (APWA) and is the largest accredited agency in the state of Iowa.
 
APWA Accreditation is awarded to public works agencies that meet the requirements of internationally established standards and best management practices for the public works industry in areas such as emergency management and safety, water pollution control, solid waste management, storm water management, street/sewer repair and maintenance, engineering, facility maintenance, forestry, transit, and vehicle maintenance.
