I-280 & Locust Economic Development Plan

Description/Goal

Build on and continue the success of the Eastern Iowa Industrial Center by identifying future development zone; Staff has identified a 700-acre area at intersection of Locust and I-280 that is suitable for industrial development; begin planning for extension of infrastructure including preparing estimates for sewer and street costs.

Current Update

Staff has completed a potential preliminary design for the planned industrial park and estimated the cost for the extension of the sanitary sewer along Duck Creek to the west. This extension is necessary for service to the planned industrial park. Discussions continue on the long term timing of funding. In addition staff will seek out and apply for applicable grant and/or cost sharing opportunities.

Previous Status

Staff continues to work on preliminary design and cost estimated for the extension of the sanitary sewer along Duck Creek to the west. This extension is necessary to serve the needs of future the industrial park. This project is not currently a part of the FY 2020-2025 Capital Plan.
