Spring/Summer Construction Season Projects with stacks of traffic cones

Roadwork will be starting soon.  There are a number of high traffic and neighborhood streets scheduled for rehabilitation this year.

Major roads to be resurfaced include:

  • Rockingham Rd between S Concord and Fairmount.
  • Jersey Ridge Rd between Lombard and Central Park.
  • Telegraph Rd between W 3rd St and S Clark.
  • East Locust between Iowa and Grand.
  • E 39th St between Bridge and Davenport Ave.

Work on Telegraph Rd and E 39th St will begin earlier as contracts have been awarded.

N Lincoln Rd between Locust and W Central Park is also slated for rehabilitation.  Engineering evaluation is currently underway to determine the best course for improvement for the road.  Work is not likely to begin until mid-to-late summer.

The City has also allocated funding toward joint and panel replacement on Elmore Ave between Dexter Crt and E 39th St, Jersey Ridge Rd between 46th St and Edgewild, Eastern Ave between Westminster and 39th St, and W 76th St between the 100 and 1200 Block.

In addition to these major roads, the city will be contracting rehabilitation and/or select panel replacement on the following neighborhood roads: Elmwood from 13th St to Lincoln, 28th St from Western to its western limits, Gaines St from 28th St to 30th St, 46th St from Pine to Cheyenne, and 46th St at the intersection of Filmore and the westbound lane, west of Marquette.

As we enter the construction season, please be reminded to expect the unexpected when driving in, or near work zones. Roadway work zones can be dangerous for workers and drivers. For the safety of our employees and others working in the roadway, we ask everyone to pay attention to signs, slow down and to prepare for possible delays.
